• EPC contract signed for a urea granulation plant in The Netherlands on a lump sum turn-key basis

Milan, 29 July 2015 – Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that itssubsidiary Tecnimont S.p.A. has been awarded by Yara International ASA (Yara) an EPC contract for a new urea granulation plant to be implemented in Sluiskil, The Netherlands.

The contract value is equal to approximately €125 million.

The project’s scope of work entails the realization on a lump-sum turn-key basis of a 2,000 tonnes per day new urea granulation plant, including some utilities. The plant will use proprietary technology developed and owned by Yara, which allows also the production of special, sulphur enriched, urea grades. The project is expected to be completed in 25 months from the signing date, and will be executed by an integrated team of Yara’s and Tecnimont’s specialists.

The Sluiskil site, located close to Antwerp with direct access to the North Sea, is one of the most important European fertilizer production complexes and has also got a symbolic value to Tecnimont, since its predecessor Montecatini Group carried out its activities in The Netherlands in the very same site during the 60s and 70s.
