Ruwais, Abu Dhabi 19 December 2018 - The groundbreaking ceremony for the PP5 project was held at the construction site in Ruwais, UAE. High ranking officials from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Borealis, Maire Tecnimont Group and Borouge attended the ceremony for the new polypropylene unit, which will have a production capacity of 480,000 t/y and will be implemented within the Borouge 3 polyolefins complex. 

Once completed, Borouge’s fifth polypropylene unit will grow Borouge’s polypropylene capacity by more than 25% to 2.24 million tonnes per year (t/y) and unlock new opportunities to boost the local economy, also supporting UAE’s  In-Country Value programme to encourage the use of local goods, services, manufacturing facilities and the employment of local resources.

With the PP5 projectMaire Tecnimont Group keeps on supporting Borouge’s development plans for the downstream sector, after the first Borouge polyolefin complex (Borouge 1) and two additional expansion projects, Borouge 2 and Borouge 3.
