Rome, September 20, 2023 - As part of the event “Between Art and Ingenuity”, today at its headquarters in Rome, the MAIRE Foundation is presenting the finalist works of the contest “Second Life, Coming Back”, a project now in its second year and promoted by Alia Multiutility Toscana together with the MAIRE Foundation.

The MAIRE FOUNDATION, inaugurated in late 2021, fosters the preservation and knowledge of the MAIRE Group's archival heritage and supports the training of tomorrow’s young talents and humanist engineers who can contribute to the energy and digital transition of the future. Through art and culture, the Foundation implements projects for training and to combat educational poverty together with schools, universities and the third sector.

It is in this context that the partnership of “Second Life, Coming Back” was formed, a project that has welcomed the participation of about two hundred Italian artists, all under the age of thirty, in its two editions overseen by Professor Marco Meneguzzo. The 30 finalist works of the 2023 second edition, selected by a highly qualified jury composed of representatives from the main Tuscan cultural institutions, help us reflect upon how important our daily actions are in respecting the environment and giving a second life to material things by observing the rule of the 4Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover. These are themes at the heart of the sustainability and business strategies of the entire MAIRE Group.

An honorable mention goes to Federico Ferroni's work “Decay”, constructed on sheets of iron, whose “impactful material solidity perfectly represents the overall vision, urgency for intervention in the area of sustainability and valorization of reclaimed materials, so closely aligned with the actions of the MAIRE Foundation”.
