Milan, September 8^th 2015 – The ceremony for the inauguration of anew facility for the production of low density polyethylene (LDPE4), realized by Maire Tecnimont Group for the Client Slovnaft, took place today in Bratislava. Slovnaft is a major investor in Slovak, belonging to MOL Group, one of the largest players in the European polyolefins market.

The event, that took place at the plant, was attended by Miroslav Obert, State Secretary of Slovak Ministry of Economy, Oszkár Világi, Chairman and CEO of Slovnaft, Fabrizio Di Amato, Chairman of Maire Tecnimont, Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Maire Tecnimont, and Roberto Martini, Italian Ambassador in Bratislava.

The new plant, that will start commercial production in early 2016, is part of Slovnaft´s massive investment in petrochemicals which includes industrial infrastructure and other technologies for a total value of over EUR 300 million.

The new production unit LDPE4 is designed to substitute seven old production lines, with the aim to produce new types of higher quality polyethylene with minimal emissions, greater operating security and lower energy consumption, basic foodstock of a wide range of products such as food and agricultural wrapping, toys, insulation, medical and hygiene aids as well as many materials used in construction manufacture. Once activated, the unit’s production capacity will amount to 220,000 tons, mainly to be sold in foreign marketplaces.

The plant was realized by Maire Tecnimont Group through its main operative subsidiary Tecnimont and the German subsidiary Tecnimont Planung und Industrieanlagenbau. Slovnaft and Maire Tecnimont have been partner since 2008, when the first engineering contract regarding Bratislava’s plant was signed.
